Ο Τοπ Κατ είναι ένας φτωχός, μελαγχολικός γάτος που ζει μοναχικά στους δρόμους της Νέας Υόρκης. Μέχρι που γνωρίζει τον Μπένι, έναν καλοκάγαθο γάτο, που ψάχνει την περιπέτεια.
